This was a fun project for an individual who has fostered a community for teens with autism. Speakeasy is a social network, providing a series of forums for discussion of topics of interest.
The site serves as an online community of their own without adult involvement where they can interact with peers. It enables their communication without the challenges of face to face contact that is difficult for so many of them. Nothing else of the kind exists. The client is developing this forum in consultation with autism experts at the Yale Child Study Center and the Kennedy Krieger Institute. It was launched at the Yale Child Study Center.
I was hired to create a home page to act as a portal into the three different forum sections. I created a theme with an animated slider to help tell the story, and give the homepage some life.
